AI in Small and Medium-Sized Businesses: Answers Alone Are Not Enough

AI chatbots can answer questions. But their true value only becomes apparent when artificial intelligence can access corporate knowledge and support business processes.

Many companies are exploring artificial intelligence. Often, they start with a chatbot that answers questions, writes text, or summarizes information. But is that enough?

For Tim Stephan Schulze, founder and CEO of OIT.One, the greatest potential lies in integrating AI with existing business systems.

For example, an AI assistant can handle customer inquiries, retrieve information from an ERP system, or take over recurring tasks in customer service. This requires that it have controlled access to the necessary data and applications.

That is why, especially in small and medium-sized businesses, it is not so much the performance of an individual language model that matters, but rather how well it is integrated into business processes. This includes clear access rights, reliable data, and transparent processes.

The crucial step is the transition from chatbot to digital employee: AI must not only understand what is being asked, but also be able to take action within defined limits.
